About

Shayoka’s Art is a community art studio in Australia run by artist and teacher, Shayoka Shah. The studio offers small, age‑specific classes for children, teens, and adults, focusing on personalized attention, confidence building, and hands‑on learning across mediums like acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, and clay. Sessions run through the week with terms, holiday programs, and a friendly, creative environment designed to help students learn, explore, and create.

Shayoka’s Art had an older website built on WordPress by a previous agency in Australia. Over time, it became unstable—throwing errors, crashing unexpectedly, and making it difficult to manage class schedules and student enrollments. The experience didn’t reflect the warmth or professionalism of the studio. The goal was to rebuild the site from the ground up with a modern design, a seamless enrollment experience, and a reliable backend that would just work—day in, day out.

Process

The work began by understanding how the studio actually runs: class types by age group, term lengths, session timings, holiday programs, and a growing need for easy sign‑ups and updates. Content was reorganized so visitors could quickly find classes that fit their age and level, view schedules, and enroll without confusion. The design shifted to a clean, welcoming look—calm colors, clear typography, and simple flows—so parents and students could make decisions easily. From a technical standpoint, the entire site was rebuilt as a custom application using React.js on the front end and Node.js on the back end. This gave full control over performance, reliability, and future features. A secure admin dashboard was created so the team could:Add and update classes with details like age range, duration, capacity, and pricing.Track student registrations and manage payments.Publish announcements and updates without developer help. The enrollment process was designed to be straightforward: pick a class, review details, register, and pay—no unnecessary steps or clutter. On top of that, a shop page was added so visitors could browse and purchase paintings directly, giving Shayoka a simple way to showcase and sell artwork online. Throughout the build, the focus stayed on speed, stability, and a stress‑free admin experience.

Outcome

The new Shayoka’s Art website is fast, stable, and easy to use—for both visitors and the studio team. Parents and students can now discover classes clearly by age and level, enroll smoothly, and check availability without running into errors. The admin dashboard saves time every week by making it simple to add new classes, see who’s signed up, and manage payments. The modern design finally reflects the studio’s real personality: warm, professional, and student‑first. With the new shop page, the website also supports the business beyond classes, helping Shayoka share and sell her artwork effortlessly. Overall, the revamp turned a frustrating, error‑prone site into a reliable, modern platform that supports growth and delivers a great experience.

"The new site has made managing classes stress-free and given our studio a platform that truly reflects who we are. Parents love the clarity and ease of enrollment, and the shop has opened a new revenue stream."
